How idealistic political parties are corrupted

The manager of the press room of the Greek Archdiocese is parliamentary candidate with the Greek radical left party SY.RIZ.A.
One expects from a party which professes more or less the ideologies of marxism and anarchism, to be against a relic of the Byzantine ère.
Maybe they see Jesus son of Josef from Nazareth as a revolutionary of his time, but the Orthodox priests say one cannot go back to that ère, as Protestants wish. The Orthodox faith is based upon the interpretations of the Fathers of the Church of the 4th and 5th century CE.
The Greek Church is the biggest landowner in Greece and claims its estates from Byzantine Emperors and Osmanic Sultans, although the Greek State emerged from a revolution and is by no way successor of the East Roman Empire or the Ottoman one. The documents they possess aren't even inspected for authenticity.
Until Greece's joining the E.E.C. in 1981, every Greek infant had to be baptized in order to obtain a name and be registered as a Greek citizen. By these means a percentage of 98% was achieved, which is invoked everytime there are protests against the intervention of the Greek Church. Now they claim an 85%, although once enregistered one cannot deregister himself. The Greek school is a Sunday School all week long. Greek civil servants use delaying tactics, when "apostates" deal with the Greek State. Many of them don't believe themselves, but believe the dogma of "Hellenic Christianism" founded at the end of the 19th century CE.
However only 31.8% of the Greeks believe the teachings of the Orthodox Church and of course they will lessen with time.
The radical lefts want to cooperate with this system and not let the Church of Greece pay taxes for its immense fortune. There is no chance also for the Separation of Church and State, although 74.5% of the Greeks are in favour.
A party which is for democracy and progress is not different than the conservative parties of Greece.

However there are still people, who call the Hellenic Gentiles communists, among other names, because the Orthodox of Greece want to be the sole heirs of Ancient Greece, Rome and Israel at the same time.
