Muslim countries are becoming more and more intolerant, closed monocultural societies. Western Societies are becoming more and more open and diverse. But this diversity has no defence mechanism against the enemies of open society. It has no clear rules and has no boarders.
The more diverse we become, the more diverse should opinions be in media, but exactly the opposite is happening. We are allowed to celebrate differences, promote hijab and ramadan, but we label every criticism of Islam as islamophobic, bigot and racist. We criticize white right wing rhetorics but tolerate islamist right wing rhetorics.
Why can't we just be against all kind of intolerant supremacies, no matter where they come from? Why can we celebrate a Muslim woman becoming a congress woman (which is a great thing by the way) but accept that women, Christians, atheists and gays in Muslim countries have no rights? Why do we call Muslim criticism of enlightenment "freedom of speech", but call the criticism of Islam by enlightened people "racist"? Is that not the bigotry of lowered expectations?
