Life's lessons!

This is a Greek custom where the priest throws a cross in the water and people have to swim to get it. The winner is blessed by God. However one doesn't have to be honest as a man cheats and the throwing is not repeated. The priest says he cannot approve this actioin, but nevertheless he wants to carry on. A woman is angry, because her grandchildren were among the swimmers. He says that women want to talk and she shouldn't. She will get no blessing.
The ceremony is supposed to bless the waters, to drive out the devils from the waters. The Ancient people used the water, and the sea water, for cleaning and cleansing purposes, Christianity thinks they clean the water.
