Go away women, the place is sacred!

The Greek Christian Church wants to appropriate a World Heritage monument, the Rotunda at Thessaloniki. At first they managed to have twelve ceremonies a year in that monument. A fortnight ago a group of women wanted to visit the place as it is open to the public and a clerk of the ministry, told them to go away as the "the place is sacred and you are women". The Monument is to be used for Christian services twelve times a year, but the Altar is there all the time. The Bishop of Thessaloniki doesn't know why the clerk could have said such a thing. "Maybe they went too near to the Altar and they might break something? Or they looked under the spread?" Yes, probably they wanted to see the dragon under the Altar.
