Now the Greek Church has a problem with people choosing cremation. A bishop said that in order to prove, that it is not a matter of income, he announced he will not hold the devotionals for cremated people. If one chooses to be cremated, he won't be that Christian either. Of course it is not a matter of money only, it is a matter of power as well. The Greek Orthodox Church doesn't want to be one of the choices, but the one and only option.
He then spoke about Nature, that Nature has the procedures for dead bodies. Really, I thought dead bodies were being buried in Christian Orthodox Greece. I have never heard of lions burying each other. I have heard Zoroasters let their deads be eaten by the vultures, I don't know if they do it anymore.
In Greece for years the bones were excavated after some years and put in a bonesafe so another dead body could 'melt' there. No one said anything about this. Now, ten years after the law has come into force and some mayors are trying to find places for cremation, now people come and say they should search for burying places first.
